According to the Largo Police Department, officers responded to what was initially believed to be an active shooter situation at the high school. In an update shared on X (formerly Twitter), the department clarified:

“The Largo Police Department responded to a false alarm activation at Largo High School. There is no incident and no injuries reported.”

Police added that student dismissal may be delayed as safety protocols were followed and the campus was cleared.

Social Media Flooded with Panic and Speculation

Before the official statement was released, social media platforms lit up with posts from concerned residents and parents. Several people shared images and videos allegedly taken outside Largo High, showing a heavy police presence, multiple fire trucks, and ambulances.

One person on X wrote, “What is going on at Largo High School? Police, fire and multiple ambulances on scene,” tagging a local news outlet. Another Facebook user, who claimed to be driving past the school, said: “So I’m passing Largo High School right now and there is something going on. A lot of cop cars and paramedics involved.”

Other posts falsely claimed there was an active shooter on campus, further fueling public anxiety.

Photos and videos from the scene showed numerous police vehicles stationed outside the school. In one image, an eyewitness wrote, “I am at Largo High, something is going on. I plead the blood of Jesus over these kids — active shooters.” However, police quickly confirmed these claims were unfounded.
